Well, the title is somewhat of a misnomer as it is my first trip since 2020 and the beginning of Covid. My anxiety about traveling, packing, and using a new bag took some time to come back to me. Of course, I didn't get much sleep. I made sure Sarah had shopping in the house and breakfast. I dressed, called Uber, and made my way to the airport with plenty of time.
Spending a few hours at the airport got me back in the groove. My JetBlue flight heading to Austin Texas was on time. I paid $100 for a seat in the exit row. I put on my Bose headphones bu5 the noise still seemed loud. I do not know the reason for the loudness. My iPad mini while wonderful might be just getting too small to read. The size factor is the big rationale for taking it with me.
Arriving at Austin, I had roughly a 20-minute walk to the taxi stand. I found a wonderful driver from Ethiopia. The rush hour traffic made the drive slow going. Finally, we reached the hotel Indigo.
The woman at the check-in desk upgraded me to a suite. I was glad to get to the room as my back from not carrying a backpack was beginning to hurt. The room configuration had a sitting room with a sofa, a few chairs, and lamps for indirect lighting. The bedroom had a king bed, mini fridge, and nice size bathroom.
Sadly, my new triple iPad connection cable already stopped working. I went out to the local gas station to pick up a new cable. I came back to the room and ordered an awesome cheese platter. Exhausted, I made a few calls and just ate and spend the evening in the room.
